Apache - 13 years old

Apache came to us in April of 2018. He was extremely thin and somewhat fearful.  In a short period of time, he was in love with people, easy-going and at a healthy weight.  In the spring of 2019, Apache suddenly began to lose weight and lost interest in eating.  We had the veterinarian out to examine him.  Blood tests revealed he was in the end stages of kidney failure.  We suspect he had had the condition for a long time.  We were lucky to have been able to experience the healthy, happy horse that Apache had become in our care.  Apache passed peacefully with his family around him on May 24, 2019.   He is sadly missed.

Seamus -23 years old

Seamus was purchased at the same auction as Mick in April 2018. Saved from Slaughter. When Seamus arrived at Sun Hills we noticed some swelling on his knee and a slight limp. It was diagnosed as arthritis. We concluded that Seamus was due to retire after a long life as a hunting guide's, pack and kid's horse. With the help of Humanity for Horses Rescue, we found him a home as a little girl's companion horse.  He passed with his family surrounding him in February 2019. Seamus got to spend his final days living the dream.
